By Christine Naadu Lartey, GNA

Accra, July 10, GNA-Mr Ebo Prah Manson, the newly elected District Governor of Lions International District 418, Ghana, has called on members to renew their commitment to volunteer service, fellowship and friendship to strengthen the organisation’s impact on communities.

Mr Manson, who has assumed office as District Governor for the 2026/2027 Lions service year, said the growth and effectiveness of the district would depend on members remaining committed to the core values of volunteerism while working together in unity and mutual respect.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), he said service remained the foundation of the Lions movement.

“We all became Lions because we want to serve them. So, I want everyone in this district to be committed to service, to be committed to fellowship, and ultimately, to be committed to friendship,” he said.

Mr Manson said fostering genuine friendship among members would promote harmony, minimise internal conflicts and enable the organisation to deliver greater impact in communities.

He said his decision to join the Lions Club was inspired by his desire to expand the philanthropic work he had previously undertaken individually, adding that it enabled him to work with like-minded people to provide sustainable support for vulnerable members of society.

Mr Manson expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to lead the district and acknowledged that leadership inevitably came with challenges.

“As a leader, challenges are part of the journey. Once we face the challenge, how we handle it is the most important,” he said.

He said one of his priorities during his tenure would be to implement impactful community service projects that would improve lives while attracting more people to volunteer through the Lions movement.

Mr Manson explained that the organisation identified critical needs within communities, such as access to potable water, mobilised resources, and implemented sustainable interventions to address them.

He appealed to the public to support the humanitarian activities of the Lions Club, saying collective action was essential to improving the lives of the vulnerable, in line with the organisation’s global theme, “Serving a World in Need”.
