Award-winning Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has expressed interest in partnering with the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) to promote locally made jewellery and create stronger links between the creative industry and Ghana’s gold sector ahead of ShattaFest UK.

The musician said the collaboration would provide a platform to showcase Ghanaian craftsmanship to international audiences while creating new opportunities for growth in music, fashion and culture.

Shatta Wale made the remarks during a visit to the Ghana Gold Board accompanied by rapper Medikal and members of his management team.

He said the engagement was aimed at exploring areas of collaboration ahead of the upcoming ShattaFest UK event.

“We literally came here for a collaboration. I’ve been discussing with my brother Medikal the things we’ve been seeing you do for Mother Ghana and how hard you’re working,” Shatta Wale said.

He added that he was impressed by the jewellery produced through Ghana’s gold industry and wanted to explore ways artistes could become part of efforts to promote the sector.

“When I saw the jewellery, I was just crazy about it. I was like, no, we need to come and see you and discuss and have some good understanding of it,” he said.

According to him, the partnership would help bridge the gap between creatives and corporate institutions while giving Ghanaian brands greater visibility internationally.

“We want to merge the creatives with the corporate world because I believe most of the time we get scared to approach people like your team. But if you want to break that yoke, we can also call on you when we need your support,” he stated.

Shatta Wale said he was also interested in promoting Ghanaian jewellery through his brand, noting that artistes could help market locally produced products globally.

“We also want to be part of your jewellery spot because Medikal likes jewellery, I like jewellery. If we have to get the proper jewellery store and sell Ghana properly, this is the way to go,” he added.

Medikal, who was part of the delegation, said Ghana’s music industry could serve as a powerful marketing tool for the country’s gold and jewellery sector.

He explained that artistes could use music videos, concerts and international platforms to promote Ghanaian-made products and attract global attention to local brands.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, welcomed the proposed collaboration and pledged the Board’s support for ShattaFest UK.

He described Shatta Wale as a global ambassador whose influence could help project Ghanaian gold, jewellery and the country’s image to international markets.

The Gold Board said partnerships with influential personalities in the creative sector formed part of its broader strategy to position Ghanaian gold and locally manufactured jewellery as globally recognised brands.
