The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has announced government plans to construct bypasses around major towns and cities across Ghana to ease traffic congestion and reduce travel time.
He made the announcement during an inspection tour of the 70-kilometre Anti Rawasi-How-Titirangi Road Project, which is being undertaken by First Sky Group.
According to the Roads Minister, diverting transit traffic away from heavily populated urban centres will improve mobility, enhance the movement of goods and services, and make journeys more efficient for commuters.
Mr Agbodza explained that many towns located along major highways experience unnecessary congestion due to heavy through traffic, making the construction of bypasses a critical component of the government’s transport infrastructure strategy.
He also tasked the contractor to incorporate adequate road safety measures along sections of the project corridor near the School of Allied Health to safeguard students and pedestrians who use the route daily.
The Minister further assured individuals whose homes, businesses, or properties may be affected by the project that the government would ensure they receive appropriate compensation in accordance with existing regulations.
