Accra, June 7, GNA – Brigadier General Foster Okae Yeboah, Coordinator of the Flood Mitigation Task Force, and his team have visited identified water retention ponds and flood-affected communities as part of ongoing post-flood mitigation measures.
Accompanied by Mr Stanislav Dogbe, Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations; Mr Kenneth Adjei, Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing; and Brigadier General Richard Kinney, Commander of the 15 Engineer Brigade, the team inspected the Tesa Dam near East Legon Boundary Road, Damfa, Amharia and Oyarifa.

The team also visited the Kpeshie Lagoon, where the 48 Engineer Regiment is undertaking dredging works, as well as a major storm drain along Teshie Bush Road near the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) Temple East in Accra.
The operation, which forms part of the government’s post-flood mitigation measures, follows a directive for the Ghana Armed Forces to lead the exercise.
The unit has taken delivery of excavators and tipper trucks to support and accelerate the ongoing works.
The post-flood mitigation programme will also include the possible demolition of structures identified as posing risks to lives and property following the recent floods.
