A civil society organisation, Citizen Eye Ghana, has endorsed a proposed political ticket pairing Chief of Staff Julius Debrah with businessman Ibrahim Mahama as his running mate, describing the combination as a potential “game-changing ticket” for Ghana’s future.
In a statement signed by its founder, Alex Kwaku Tetteh, the organisation argued that the combination of Julius Debrah’s political experience and Ibrahim Mahama’s business background would provide the leadership needed to tackle unemployment, drive economic growth and empower Ghana’s youth.
According to Citizen Eye Ghana, Ghana requires leaders with the ability to create jobs, attract investment and stimulate economic activity through strategic partnerships.
“Ghana currently needs a leader who can create jobs, empower the youth and boost the economy through investments and strategic business relations,” Alex Tetteh said.
He added that Ibrahim Mahama had consistently demonstrated the expertise and experience required to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s economic transformation.
“Ibrahim Mahama has proven time and again that he possesses both the brains and the track record to deliver on these fronts,” he stated.
According to the statement, Ibrahim Mahama’s investments in Liberia and his acquisition of the Damang Mine demonstrate the capacity of Ghanaian-owned businesses to compete internationally and manage the country’s natural resources effectively.
Citizen Eye Ghana also highlighted what it described as rapid developments at the Damang Mine since Mahama assumed control.
“In just a few months of taking over, he has started building an airport. What did the previous owners do to help the community?” Tetteh questioned.
Beyond his business interests, the organisation commended Ibrahim Mahama for mentoring young professionals who have gone on to occupy key positions in public service.
Citizen Eye Ghana cited GoldBod Chief Executive Officer Sammy Gyamfi as one of the beneficiaries of Ibrahim Mahama’s mentorship, claiming that his rise reflected the businessman’s commitment to developing the next generation of Ghanaian leaders.
The statement also outlined several philanthropic initiatives attributed to Ibrahim Mahama, including sponsoring medical treatment abroad for Ghanaians, constructing schools, supporting educational infrastructure, donating equipment for national development projects and assisting various charitable causes.
In the statement, Tetteh compared Ibrahim Mahama to United States President Donald Trump, arguing that Ghana needs a leader with a strong business mindset capable of translating private sector success into national economic growth.
Describing Mahama as “the Donald Trump of Ghana,” Tetteh said the businessman understands job creation through practical experience rather than political rhetoric.
He further argued that Ibrahim Mahama’s entrepreneurial approach, coupled with Julius Debrah’s political experience, would create a formidable leadership team capable of addressing Ghana’s economic challenges while advancing the development agenda associated with President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.
