Patrick Yaw Boamah, the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central
Patrick Yaw Boamah, the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central in the Greater Accra Region, has expressed his readiness to partner the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in the 2028 general election if he is selected as his running mate.
Speaking in an interview on UTV’s Adekye Nsroma on August 28, 2026, Boamah said he would have no reason to decline the offer if Dr Bawumia names him to help the NPP recapture power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming elections.
When asked, “Would you accept to become Dr Bawumia’s running mate if you are named?” Boamah responded, “Why won’t I accept? I will accept and become the running mate.”
Meanwhile, Dr Bawumia is expected to name his running mate ahead of the 2028 general election.

In the 2024 general election, Dr Bawumia partnered with Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the former Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, as his running mate.
However, the NPP lost the election to the then-opposition NDC.
Dr Bawumia has since been re-elected to lead the NPP into the 2028 general election, where the party will seek to return to power.
