The British Council on Friday celebrated exceptional academic achievements at the 2026 British Council Partner Schools Awards, recognising outstanding students and schools from across Ghana for their performance based on Cambridge International Examinations results.

The event saw 41 students and 12 schools receiving trophies, gift sets and certificates for their performance in the annual ceremony, which brought together students, parents, school leaders, teachers, and education stakeholders from the British Council Partner Schools network to honour excellence in teaching and learning and to recognise the remarkable accomplishments of Ghanaian learners.

Held in Accra, the awards recognised high-achieving students across a range of Cambridge International subjects through the Best in Subject Awards, Star Performer Awards, and the prestigious Overall Best Student Award.

Some schools were also recognised for exceptional academic performance in both the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and A-Level, including awards for Overall Best IGCSE School and Overall Best A-Level School.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nii Doodo Dodoo, Country Director, British Council Ghana, congratulated the award recipients and acknowledged the role played by educators, parents, and school leaders in supporting student success.

He said, “Today we celebrate more than examination results. We celebrate dedication, resilience, ambition, and the collective effort of students, teachers, school leaders, and families who have worked tirelessly to achieve excellence. These awards demonstrate the outstanding potential of young people in Ghana and reinforce the importance of quality education in preparing learners for success in an increasingly interconnected world.”

The British Council also recognised Delhi Private School (DPS) International Ghana, which emerged as both the National and Regional Winner of this year’s Your World Competition under the theme, “Smarter Choices, Stronger Futures.” This outstanding achievement reflects the school’s excellence in critical thinking, creativity, and engagement with global issues.

The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities.
