FULL TIME: England 0:0 Ghana
England owned the ball and the territory, but Ghana owned the duels and the clearances.
At the end of the 90+6 mins, it was a deadlock, goalless in the Group L match between Ghana and England, with both moving to four points in Group L of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
England laboured in attack but despite dominating possession and having a 78.8% of the ball possession – the highest share of any team on record in a World Cup match, they could not penetrate a solid Ghanaian defence with Thomas Partey at the helm of midfield and control.
Ghana’s technical strategy with Coach Carlos Queiroz in charge was to frustrate the three lions, as he put it at a pre-match press conference, they were going to meet 33 million lions.
With four points secured from two games each, Ghana and England remain firmly on course to reach the knockout stages but still have work to do on both sides to either claim top spot or second place in Group L.
Ghana takes on Croatia and England takes on Panama on Saturday in their final Group L matches.
