Ghana’s efforts to secure Thomas Partey’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup have received a significant boost, with a final court hearing scheduled for Tuesday in Ottawa to address the midfielder’s visa challenges.

According to Ghanaian journalist Godfred Akoto Boafo, Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has confirmed that legal proceedings are ongoing in Canada as authorities seek a solution to the Black Stars star’s visa situation.

The final hearing is expected to take place at 9:00 a.m. Canada time, with Ghanaian officials hopeful of a favourable outcome that could clear the way for Partey to join his teammates ahead of their tournament opener.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars remain fully focused on their preparations. The team continued training as scheduled in Rhode Island before departing for Canada ahead of Wednesday’s crucial Group L clash against Panama.

Head coach Carlos Queiroz has maintained normal training routines despite the uncertainty surrounding Partey’s availability, with the squad concentrating on tactical preparations for the opening match of their World Cup campaign.

Partey’s absence would be a major blow to Ghana’s ambitions, given the midfielder’s experience and importance to the national team. However, Ghanaian authorities continue to pursue both diplomatic and legal avenues in an attempt to resolve the matter before the Black Stars take to the field.

Tuesday’s hearing in Ottawa could determine whether one of Ghana’s most influential players will be available for the country’s opening World Cup fixture against Panama.
