The Development Chief of Frankadua in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region, Torgbe Kofi Dunenyo I, in collaboration with Nine23 Foundation and Partners, has handed over an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory, equipped with computers, to the Frankadua Evangelical Presbyterian Primary School.
The ICT laboratory, which was inaugurated last Sunday, is to provide pupils the opportunity to acquire computer skills, conduct research and develop the knowledge needed to succeed in an increasingly technological world.
Torgbe Dunenyo, known in private life as Jonathan Kofi Renolds, was accompanied by his wife, Shonda Afia Renolds; the President of the Tau Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha and Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, Dr Nana Kweku Nduom; Area Director, International Association of Alpha Chapters, Paul Muah among others.
The motivation
Speaking at the ceremony, Torgbe Dunenyo said that when he first visited the Frankadua community through TEAM CSR, a non-governmental organisation, he realised the community’s needs were many and immediately began with a borehole and places of convenience.
He explained that, in partnership with some organisations in the diaspora, he built the ICT laboratory, and gave the assurance that the community would benefit from more projects in the pipeline if they took care of the existing ones.
Torgbe Dunenyo seized the opportunity and encouraged the diaspora, especially those of Ghanaian descent, to work to uplift the towns and communities in Ghana and across the continent.
Head teacher
The head teacher of the school, Anthony Donkor, on behalf of the pupils, teachers, Parent-Teacher Association, School Management Committee and the entire Frankadua community, expressed their gratitude to the benefactors for the ICT laboratory, saying it would go a long way towards making the learners computer literate.
“Your kindness has gone beyond providing a building and computers. You have given hope to these young learners and demonstrated that one person can make a lasting difference in the lives of many”, the head teacher said.
Mr Donkor said the impact of the facility would be felt not only today but for generations to come, and assured that the school’s management would ensure the facility was protected.
He also appealed for a printer to support the preparation and printing of examination questions, teaching materials and other administrative documents, a lawn mower and the installation of burglar-proofing on the doors and windows of the facility.
The Chief Executive Officer of TEAM CSR, Jonathan Akuamoah, the project’s initiator, urged the leadership of the Frankadua community to ensure the facilities provided by Torgbe Dunenyo and his partners were properly maintained to pave the way for more development projects.
The regent of Frankadua, Godson Awadzu Asempa, lauded the former Assembly member for the Frankadua Morgadzi Electoral Area, Bright Amenorhu, for his role in bringing Torgbe Dunenyo to the community to facilitate all the development projects.
