The tournament features a strong blend of seasoned professionals, rising stars, amateurs, and junior golfers, further underlining the Tour’s growing reputation as a key pathway to elite professional golf in Africa.

Leading the Kenyan challenge is Daniel Nduva of Nyali Golf & Country Club, who arrives in Kabete in confident form after claiming his maiden Sunshine Development Tour title at the NCBA Royal Classic earlier this week.

He faces stiff local competition that includes John Lejirma, Greg Snow, Dismas Indiza, David Wakhu, CJ Wangai, Samuel Njoroge, Jastas Madoya, Abraham Galgalo, Nelson Mudanyi, and Erick Ooko.

Rwanda’s challenge is led by season-opening winner Celestin Nsanzuwera, who lifted the first title of the campaign at Thika Sports Club and currently leads the Tour’s Order of Merit. He is joined by compatriots Nsabimana Aloys and Emile Nshimyumuremyi.

Uganda also fields a strong contingent, spearheaded by Abraham Ainamani, who has been consistent in the early events of the season. He is joined by Gaita Rodell, Philip Kasozi, and lady professional Grace Kasango.

The West African representation is headlined by Nigeria, featuring Sunday Olapade, who shared second place at Royal Nairobi, alongside Francis Epe, winner of the Sunshine Development Tour West Africa Qualifying School, as well as Ajayi Tajudeen, Ideriah Solomon, and Eze Monday.

Ghana is represented by Ezekiel Afisco, while Ivory Coast has entered Richard Kouame and Kouassi Jean-Romaric Djezou.

The international field is further boosted by American professionals Andrew Proctor and Gabriel Cruz, England’s Elliot Bradley, and Indian junior golfer Mitansh Thacker.

In the women’s category, Kenya’s Naom Wafula, Joyce Wanjiru, and Margaret Njoki are in action alongside Tanzania’s Angel Eaton, all aiming to make their mark in a competitive mixed field.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Sunshine Development Tour – East Africa Swing Tournament Director David Kihara expressed satisfaction with the strength of the field and the early momentum of the season.

“We have had a very exciting start to the season with two highly competitive tournaments at Thika Sports Club and Royal Nairobi Golf Club. The quality of golf has been outstanding, and the continued participation from players across Africa and beyond shows the growing stature of the Sunshine Development Tour,” he said.

“VetLab has always produced quality competition, and we expect another exciting week. The race for Order of Merit points is already taking shape, players are chasing world ranking opportunities, and every tournament is important in the journey towards Sunshine Tour progression. We look forward to another strong event.”

The Kabete Challenge follows a competitive NCBA Royal Classic, where Daniel Nduva staged a back-nine charge to secure his maiden title.

Earlier, Rwanda’s Celestin Nsanzuwera won the season-opening event at Thika Sports Club, setting an early tone in what is shaping up to be a tightly contested season-long race.
