The National Media Commission (NMC) has appointed Dr Isaac Okpoti Nai as the new Managing Director of the New Times Corporation (NTC), publishers of The Ghanaian Times and The Spectator.

Dr Nai was formally introduced to staff in Accra on Friday during an engagement organised by the Board.

Addressing the gathering, he expressed appreciation to workers for “holding the fort” and contributing to the growth of the corporation.

He outlined his leadership philosophy, anchored on professionalism, integrity and teamwork, and called on staff to embrace a sense of ownership in their work.

“You need to work as though the company belongs to you. You are not doing it for me, take ownership. Let’s work as a team,” he stressed.

According to him, such an approach would help the corporation grow and remain sustainable. He also urged staff to respect time and meet deadlines.

Dr Nai appealed to employees to play their roles effectively to add value to the organisation.

The Board, led by Prof. Kwamena Kwansah-Aidoo, expressed confidence in the new Managing Director and wished both him and staff success in the years ahead.

The chairperson of the Interim Management Committee and a Board Member of NTC, Dr Charity Binka, also urged staff to give Dr Nai their full support to enable him succeed.

The appointment, dated June 5, 2026, was made by the NMC in consultation with President John Dramani Mahama, in accordance with Article 168 of the 1992 Constitution and Section 2(1)(e) of the National Media Commission Act, 1994 (Act 449).

Dr Nai is a seasoned management executive, academic and corporate leader with over 25 years’ experience in financial management, corporate governance, strategic planning, internal audit, risk management and organisational development in both Ghana and the United Kingdom.

Prior to his appointment, he served as General Manager, Finance and Administration, at the State Housing Company Limited.

He has also held senior leadership roles at the Ghana Integrity Initiative (Transparency International Ghana), the Central Region Development Commission, the London Boroughs of Croydon and Merton, as well as Ananemantey & Co.

His professional experience spans both the public and private sectors, including donor-funded organisations, local government authorities, financial institutions and higher education institutions.

As an academic, Dr Nai has lectured in Accounting, Finance, Taxation and Management, contributing to the training of future professionals.

He holds a Doctor of Business Administration (Financial Management) from Anglia Ruskin University in the United Kingdom, an MBA in Finance and Strategic Management from the University of Greenwich, and a BSc (Hons) in Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.

He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICA).

Throughout his career, Dr Nai has been recognised for strengthening financial controls, improving organisational performance, leading transformational initiatives and providing strategic leadership that delivers sustainable growth and value.
