President John Dramani Mahama has held talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London as Ghana intensifies efforts to attract foreign investment and deepen economic cooperation with the United Kingdom.

The meeting took place over breakfast at No. 10 Downing Street on the sidelines of the Ghana-UK Investment Summit 2026, which has brought together government officials, business leaders and investors to explore new trade and investment opportunities between both countries.

A statement issued by the Presidency said Mahama was accompanied by Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson, Trade Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, and Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK and Ireland, Zita Sabah Benson.

“President John Dramani Mahama this morning had a breakfast meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at No. 10 Downing Street,” the Presidency said.

The engagement forms part of Mahama’s broader visit to the United Kingdom, where he has been meeting government officials and investors as Ghana seeks to strengthen economic ties and attract investment into strategic sectors of the economy.

The Ghana-UK Investment Summit has focused on boosting bilateral relations, expanding trade links and creating new opportunities for collaboration between businesses in both countries.

Mahama’s meeting with Starmer comes as his administration seeks to position Ghana as a preferred destination for foreign investment amid efforts to accelerate economic growth and create jobs.

The discussions also coincided with wider engagements aimed at strengthening diplomatic and commercial relations between Accra and London.

Earlier on Monday, Mahama addressed an audience at Chatham House in London, where he commented on the recently passed Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2025.

Speaking on the legislation, the Ghanaian president indicated that the bill still faces significant hurdles before it can become law.

“There’s still quite a while to go before that bill becomes law,” Mahama said, citing concerns over quorum and procedural issues surrounding its passage.
