A high-level delegation from the Government of Ghana recently visited Vietnam and held official meetings at the headquarters of PSL Machinery in Hanoi, culminating in the signing of a landmark Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement aimed at accelerating the development of Ghana’s cashew processing industry.

The partnership is designed to support Ghana’s national target of achieving 50-60% local cashew processing capacity in the first phase, with the long-term objective of progressing toward 100% domestic processing while strengthening the country’s broader agricultural value chain.

Strengthening Ghana’s cashew processing ambitions

The Ghanaian delegation was led by Dr. Andrews Osei Okrah, Chief Executive Officer of the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), Her Excellency Mrs. Florence Buerki Akonor, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Vietnam and Malaysia, and Ms. Alexandra Asiamah, Head of Chancery of the Ghana High Commission in Vietnam and Malaysia.

The delegation was welcomed by Mr. John Azar, Chairman of PSL Group, together with the leadership team of PSL Machinery and representatives from the global cashew industry.

The Ghanaian delegation included Dr. Andrews Osei Okrah, CEO of the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), Her Excellency Mrs. Florence Buerki Akonor, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Vietnam, and Ms. Alexandra Asiamah.

During the meetings, PSL Machinery presented a comprehensive development roadmap aligned with Ghana’s industrial priorities. The roadmap outlines PSL Machinery’s long-term vision to design and build thousands of scalable cashew processing factories, supported by technology transfer, workforce development, full factory management, and long-term technical support aimed at establishing a sustainable and internationally competitive cashew processing ecosystem in Ghana.

The company also committed to implementing a kernel buy-back program to secure stable market access for finished products, which is a capability that few companies in the industry are able to offer, as PSL Machinery operates across the entire cashew value chain. Through this strategy, PSL Machinery aims to support Ghana in increasing domestic cashew processing capacity to 50-60% of the country’s raw cashew nut production during the first phase, with the long-term objective of progressing toward 100% local processing capacity in the future.

The meetings concluded with the signing of a strategic partnership agreement focused on the comprehensive development of Ghana’s cashew industry through a Public-Private Partnership framework between PSL Machinery and the Government of Ghana.

Expanding industrial capacity through strategic cooperation

Under the partnership, PSL Machinery will directly design, build, and develop complete cashew processing factories in Ghana through its comprehensive A-to-Z Cashew Factory Solution. The company will supply and install advanced cashew processing machinery, develop green factory solutions with solar-powered steel buildings, provide technology transfer, and directly support full factory management and operations. PSL Machinery will also implement kernel-buyback programs to help ensure stable market access and sustainable long-term operations for processors in Ghana.

The partnership is expected to accelerate industrialization, increase value-added production, and strengthen local processing capabilities throughout Ghana’s cashew value chain.

Beyond industrial development, the collaboration also reflects a shared commitment to sustainable and inclusive economic growth. By strengthening local processing capacity, the initiative is expected to create employment opportunities, improve farmer incomes, encourage private-sector investment, and expand participation across the country’s agricultural sector.

As Ghana advances toward its ambitious processing targets, the cooperation with PSL Machinery is expected to help establish the foundation for a modern, efficient, and globally competitive cashew industry capable of delivering long-term economic and social benefits.

The agreement also marks an important milestone in the growing relationship between Ghana and PSL Machinery following previous discussions held during the Ghana Tree Crops Investment Summit and Exhibition 2026, where PSL Machinery participated as a distinguished international guest and strategic technology partner.

For PSL Machinery, the PPP partnership represents another important step in its mission to support cashew-producing countries through advanced technology, industrial expertise, and sustainable development solutions, enabling them to capture greater value from natural resources while strengthening local industries for future generations.
