By Daniel Agbesi Latsu, GNA

Kadjebi (O/R), May 23, GNA – Mr Mohammed Muniru Haruna, popularly known as King Faraday, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Yadzo Oti Warriors FC, a Division Two football club in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region, has passed after a short illness.

The incident occurred on Thursday evening, May 21, 2026, at Yadzo, his hometown, where he reportedly collapsed unexpectedly.

King Faraday, a teacher by profession and a Government Appointee to the Kadjebi District Assembly, was said not to have shown any visible signs of illness prior to the incident, leaving family members, football enthusiasts, friends, and residents in shock.

Mr Richard Akrasi, the Akan Constituency Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), confirmed the death to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview.

He disclosed that the late football administrator had since been buried in accordance with Islamic customs and traditions.

Mr Akrasi said King Faraday was the Yadzo Branch Chairman of the NDC and noted that the Akan NDC executives attended his burial service.

News of his passing has thrown the Yadzo community and the local football fraternity into mourning, with many describing him as a committed sports administrator and community advocate who contributed immensely to the development of football in the area.

Some supporters of Yadzo Oti Warriors FC, who spoke to the GNA expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing him as instrumental in sustaining the club’s activities in recent years.

Mr Tsadenu Mutakilu, the Assemblyman for the Obuasi/Butabe Electoral Area, described King Faraday as a brother, friend, and influencer despite belonging to different political divides.

“He was one of us,” he told the GNA.

“May Allah Almighty accept him into Jannatul Firdaus,” he added.
