TikTok Removes Over 820,000 Videos in Kenya

Social media platform TikTok said on Tuesday that it removed 820,552 videos in Kenya during the fourth quarter of 2025 for violating its Community Guidelines.

The company has disclosed this in its latest transparency report, with nearly all of the content flagged and taken down before any user reported it.

According to the Q4 2025 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report released on Tuesday, 99.9% of the removed videos were detected proactively through automated systems, while 98.4% were taken down within 24 hours of being posted.

The figures point to the scale of TikTok’s investment in machine-driven content moderation, which the company says is designed to limit the spread of harmful material before it reaches significant audiences.

Beyond video removals, TikTok also banned 108,752 accounts in Kenya over the same period for policy violations. The majority, 93,704 accounts, were suspected of belonging to users under the age of 13, which falls below the platform’s minimum age requirement. The enforcement action reflects growing pressure on social media platforms to tighten controls around underage access, particularly as regulators across Africa and globally push for stronger child protection frameworks online.

Globally, TikTok removed 175.3 million videos in Q4 2025, representing approximately 0.5% of all content uploaded to the platform during the quarter. Of that total, 152.6 million videos were identified and removed using automated detection tools. The platform recorded a 99.1% proactive removal rate globally, with 93.4% of flagged content actioned within 24 hours. Around 8.4 million videos were subsequently reinstated following further human review.

The enforcement categories covered by the report include misinformation, hate speech, violent and graphic content, and other policy violations, areas that have drawn regulatory scrutiny in several markets where TikTok operates.

TikTok says its moderation infrastructure combines automated systems with a global team of trust and safety professionals who provide oversight and handle appeals. The company publishes the Community Guidelines Enforcement Report quarterly as part of its broader transparency commitments.
