Mr Joel Odartei Mills has been crowned Head of Family of Awo-Nancy We, ar AKoto Lante, in the Greater Accra Region on Saturday.

It was held at the family house near James Town and attended by family members, friends and loved ones.

Mr Joel, his family members and other attendees wore all white as a symbol of blessings and thanksgiving during the entire ceremony.

The ceremony commenced in the morning with the performance of some traditional and cultural rites, including pouring of libation and slaughtering of animals for sacrifice.

Later in the day, the celebrants gathered around tables to eat and and drink to the glory of God.

Special Christian prayers were said after which executive members took turns to narrate the history of the Awo-Nancy We, a family with great tradition and culture dating several centuries back.

Mr Mills would be assisted by Mr Christian Odartey Lamptey, family advisor, Mr Joshua Odartey Lamptey, family elder, also known as (Danchira) and David Lankai Lamptey, family chief patron.

In his speech, Mr Mills pledged to serve with dedication and love.

“The title I wear today is not just a symbol of power, but a heavy mantle of responsibility- a duty to serve, not to be served,” Mr Mills added.

He continued:” I am acutely aware of the generations of leaders who came before me, and I pledge to uphold the values of harmony, peace, and unity that define our great family.Throughout all my life and with all my heart I shall seize to be worthy of your trust.”

He said he would focus on the welfare of all people- the young, the elderly, and the vulnerable, adding that he would be a leader who listens, lead with empathy, and work towards a future where “our big family thrives in unity and prosperity.”

Mr Mills asked the family to pray for wisdom and strength for him and his elders to fulfill his vows as they embarked on the new chapter together.
