Why I Stopped Attending Church

Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has shared that she no longer goes to church physically on Sundays.

Naija News reports that she said the decision was due to the attention she gets whenever she attends services.

In a video posted on her Snapchat page, the actress was seen at home making breakfast and preparing her children for church. While speaking in the video, she made it clear that she would not be joining them at the church venue but would instead take part in the service online.

She explained that each time she attends church, people focus on taking her photos, making it hard for her to worship quietly. According to her, the constant attention from both media teams and members of the congregation makes the environment uncomfortable for her.

“Do not ask if I am going to church. I am not going to church. Anytime I go to church, it is me that they take picture of. I will join online,” she said.

In other news, Funke Akindele has dismissed claims that she snubbed Fuji star, Wasiu Pasuma, at a recent public event, describing the viral narrative as misleading.

The controversy followed a video shared on 𝕏 by a user, which was captioned, “Moment Funke Akindele snubbed Pasuma in public. This is not looking good at all.”
