Kenyans who paid for a Certificate of Good Conduct but never went for fingerprint capture can still use their original payment to get their fingerprints taken, Huduma Kenya has confirmed.
In a clarification on X (formerly Twitter), Huduma Kenya stated that if one paid for a certificate of good conduct but never went to a Huduma centre to have their prints captured, they could still do so as long as it has been less than 1 year since the date of payment.
The clarification was issued in response to a citizen’s inquiry on social media, addressing a common situation where applicants pay for the service but fail to complete the fingerprint recording step.
The user stated that he applied for a police clearance certificate sometime in 2025, but missed the fingerprint recording process.

He further sought clarification on whether he can use last year’s payment receipts for the process now.
“I applied for a good conduct and paid for finger prints sometimes last year but never went for the fingerprints recording. Can I still use those receipts still to go for finger prints recording please?” the user posed.
In response, the agency noted that such instances are available only if the payment date is more than one year ago.
“Please note that it can be used if the payment date has not past one year,” Huduma Kenya said in the response.
The response now confirms that the receipt remains valid for up to 12 months from the date of payment, provided the fingerprint capture has not yet been done.
It also means that applicants whose payments are more than 1 year old will be required to make a fresh payment before proceeding with fingerprint recording.
It is worth noting that the service currently costs Ksh 1,050, so applicants who mistakenly assume their earlier payment is invalid may be unnecessarily paying twice.
Huduma Centres across the country host Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) desks where fingerprint capture for Good Conduct is conducted on working days.
The payment is made through the eCitizen portal, where an appointment is made before users can visit any Huduma centres to complete the process.
A certificate of good conduct is usually issued within 2 weeks, and applicants must log in to eCitizen to download it.
