Tinubu to Attend Economic, Climate Summits in France, Kenya, Rwanda

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday, May 2, for a three-nation diplomatic trip covering France, Kenya, and Rwanda, as part of efforts to deepen Nigeria’s international partnerships and attract investment.

According to a State House statement issued on May 1, the President’s itinerary will begin in France before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya, where he is scheduled to participate in the Africa-France Summit from May 11 to May 12.

The summit, co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto, will focus on key issues including energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, climate action, and reforms to the global financing architecture.

Organised under the theme “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” the forum will bring together African and French leaders to deliberate on economic transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, technological advancement, and peace-building initiatives across the continent.

The Presidency said Tinubu’s participation reflects Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening strategic ties with both African countries and France, particularly in areas critical to sustainable development and economic growth.

Following the Nairobi summit, the President will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14 to May 15. The forum, themed “Scale or Fail,” is expected to convene over 2,000 business leaders, investors, and policymakers to discuss strategies for accelerating Africa’s economic transformation through regional integration and cross-border investments.

Held in partnership with the International Finance Corporation, the forum is regarded as one of the continent’s largest private-sector gatherings focused on building resilient and competitive industries.

At both engagements, Tinubu is expected to present his administration’s reform agenda aimed at repositioning Nigeria as a leading destination for investment. He will also hold a series of high-level bilateral meetings with global and African business leaders.

The President will be accompanied by senior government officials, including ministers and aides, and is expected to return to Nigeria after concluding his engagements in Rwanda.
