Veteran actor Abiodun Ayoyinka has denied reports that he received a car and 25,000 dollars.
Naija News reports that the actor, known for his role in Papa Ajasco and Company, came into the spotlight again in March 2026 after an interview with media personality Lucky Udu went viral. During the interview, he spoke about the challenges he has faced despite many years in the entertainment industry, which led to reactions from Nigerians.
Following the interview, producer Wale Adenuga responded, saying the actor had enjoyed support during his time on the show, including access to vehicles like a Mercedes Benz.
The situation later grew more tense after Udu reacted publicly, accusing the actor of not showing enough appreciation for his efforts in bringing attention to his situation.
Udu also said he tried to help further by arranging more support, including a planned meeting with a pastor in Abuja, but the plan did not work out. He added that the experience reminded him of past situations where his attempts to assist public figures did not end well.
Speaking in a fresh interview with Daddy Freeze, Ayoyinka dismissed the claims about receiving expensive gifts and explained what actually happened after the interview gained attention.
He said the interview helped bring him back into public view and opened new opportunities. According to him, many Nigerians reached out with financial support, and the total amount he received from donations was close to six million naira, with different people giving amounts from as little as one thousand naira to as much as one million naira.
The actor made it clear that he did not receive any car or large dollar gift as widely reported. He said he still moves around using public transport and has not seen any car delivered to him, even though some people had come to his house expecting to see one.
“After the interview, I appreciated my fans, and I appreciated Lucky Udu. It gave me a new life and a new beginning. When we summed it together, it was almost N6 million.
“I am still trekking and jumping the bus. I did not receive any car; some people came to my house to see the car, and I told them I didn’t see any car,” he said.
Addressing the comments made by Adenuga, Ayoyinka explained that he once owned a car during his acting career, describing it as an old Mercedes 200, but said he no longer has it.
He said his main reason for speaking out is to correct false information about his situation and the kind of help he has received.
He also spoke about his relationship with Udu, saying he tried to stay in touch after the interview and even planned to meet him in Abuja, but his calls were not answered.
