Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed four new cases of Mpox, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 1,062 as of April 11, 2026.

The update was shared on the GHS official X page on April 13, 2026.

“Mpox update as of April 11, 2026: Four new cases recorded, bringing the total confirmed cases to 1,062,” the post stated.

The GHS also disclosed that eight people have so far died from the disease.

The Service urged the public to remain vigilant, avoid close contact with individuals showing symptoms, and report any suspected cases to the nearest health facility.

“Protect yourself and others by maintaining good hygiene and reporting any symptoms such as fever, rash, headache, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, chills, and tiredness,” the statement added.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Mpox, formerly known as monkeypox is a viral illness caused by the monkeypox virus, a member of the Orthopoxvirus genus.

The disease can be transmitted through close contact with an infected person, contaminated materials, or infected animals.

The WHO further notes that during pregnancy, the virus may be transmitted to the foetus or to a newborn during or after birth.
