How much does Eric Omondi earn?

Dennis Itumbi, while on an interview on Citizen TV, spoke about Eric’s earnings. He claimed that President William Ruto had negotiated with Meta executives.

He highlighted that Eric’s earnings were from the Meta platforms.

“When this administration took office… a report shows that Eric is earning KSh 57 million and is the highest-earning content creator. His earnings are majorly on Instagram and Facebook. The president personally negotiated with Meta they even came here for Jamhuri, and monetisation was introduced for Meta products,” he said.

He also touched on e-citizen, distributing 70 per cent of royalty earnings to musicians.

“Our musicians, for a long time, have not enjoyed royalties. We have CMOs like MCSK that collected 109 million in the past and only distributed KSh 10 million to musicians. This administration, anyone can login on e-citizen and see that 70% is distributed under KECOBO.”

Netizens react to Itumbi’s words

Here is what they had to say:

@MediaMK:

“The consequences of flawed research findings… it will land into the wrong hands and they will run circles around it to sanitise themselves (makes me think of an Oxfam study that spoke about 100 or so Kenyans controlling 90% of Kenya’s wealth).”

“All you have to do is lie confidently in this government, I suppose. Just tell the biggest whoppers, ‘but with confidence.”

@Nyandia_G:

“I heavily dispute this. Too many assumptions were made and not accounted for.”

@roomthinker:

“For these people to shamelessly take credit for Facebook monetisation on live television!”

@2early4_coffee:

“Pointing to individual(s) success stories doesn’t equal systemic progress. A functioning creative economy should benefit more than a select few. The focus should be on fair access, clear structures, and accountability around these initiatives @OleItumbi.”

@NyakundiMilton:

“This peddling of big numbers without clear indicators is a cheap strategy to excite average minds through a wow effect. The real substance of the economic strategy that works for the greater majority of Kenyans is non-existent under this government, and they are clueless on innovative ways of unlocking the economic potential of the country’s youth.”
