Applicants who did not pass the medical screening stage of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) 2025/2026 enlistment exercise will have an opportunity to seek reassessment, Deputy Minister for Defence Ernest Yaw Brogya Genfi has announced.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Brogya Genfi urged all affected candidates to return to the medical centres where they were originally assessed to obtain the specific reasons for their disqualification. He said understanding those reasons is especially important for applicants whose conditions may be treatable.
“All potential recruits who failed the medical assessment are reminded to check the reason or reasons from the medical centre where they were assessed,” he wrote. “All those who had curable medical issues at that stage are encouraged to seek medical attention, as they will be invited again for a review.”
The Deputy Minister confirmed that the follow-up medical review will be conducted at no cost to the applicants.
The announcement comes weeks after the GAF completed the selection of its first batch of 2,000 recruits for 2026, with successful candidates already directed to collect appointment letters at regional centres on March 18. The first batch forms part of a broader government plan to enlist 12,000 personnel into the armed forces over three years, across four scheduled training batches.
Brogya Genfi did not specify a date for the reassessment or indicate how many applicants were affected by medical disqualifications during the screening phase.
