Ghanaian talents Francis Oppong and Jerome Osei Kyremeh played the full 90 minutes for Stoke City U21s in their 6-1 loss to Middlesbrough U21 on Tuesday.
Left-back Oppong, 20, was tasked with containing a relentless Middlesbrough attack throughout the contest. Despite the heavy scoreline, he showed resilience, consistently tracking runners, blocking crosses, and attempting to organize the defensive line under constant pressure. His work rate never dipped as he continued battling for every ball.
Seventeen-year-old striker Kyremeh operated as the lone centre-forward, leading the attacking line despite limited service due to Middlesbrough’s dominance.
He made intelligent runs, pressed defenders, and created pockets of space to offer an outlet for his teammates, showcasing his energy and willingness to work without the ball.
The lopsided result provided valuable experience for both players against top opposition, testing their mental toughness and tactical understanding under adverse circumstances. Their full 90-minute involvement underscores their growing importance within the Stoke U21 squad.
