A FORMER Presidential Reporter of the Ghanaian Times, Frederick Baffour Opoku, is set to launch three books documenting the political history and leadership of Ghana’s Heads of State.
The publications examine the country’s political evolution and highlight the leadership styles, ideologies, and contributions of leaders who governed Ghana under different political systems.
The first book, Constitutional Rule in Ghana’s First, Second and Third Republics, focuses on the administrations of Kwame Nkrumah, Edward Akufo-Addo, Kofi Abrefa Busia, and Hilla Limann, who served during the early republican periods.
The second book, Constitutional Rule in Ghana’s Fourth Republic, explores the leadership of Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kufuor, John Evans Atta Mills, John Dramani Mahama, and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, highlighting their policies and governance approaches.
The third book, Military Rule in Ghana between 1966 and 1993, examines the country’s military regimes and the leadership of Joseph Arthur Ankrah, Akwasi Amankwa Afrifa, Ignatius Kutu Acheampong, Frederick William Kwasi Akufo, and Jerry John Rawlings.
According to the author, the books provide detailed accounts of the achievements and challenges faced by the various Heads of State, as well as their contributions to Ghana’s political, economic, and social development.
They also examine the international relations agenda pursued by successive governments, their anti-corruption efforts, and their relationship with the Ghanaian media.
The publications further include biographical profiles of the leaders and photographs capturing significant national events during their respective administrations.
Mr Opoku said the books also feature views from prominent Ghanaians on strategies for strengthening political stability, economic growth, and social development in Ghana and across Africa.
He noted that the works aim to preserve the legacy of Ghana’s leaders and highlight their contributions to nation-building and democratic governance.
