By Iddi Yire, GNA

Accra, March 12, GNA – Madam Yaa Serwaa Alifo, Managing Director, Asharami Ghana has hailed the commissioning of Sahara Group Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) Vessel, dubbed, Asharami Ghana by President John Dramani Mahama in Ulsan, South Korea.

The commissioning of the Vessel forms part of President Mahama’s five-day working visit to South Korea.

Speaking at the unveiling of the Vessel in Ulsan, South Korea, Madam Alifo said commissioning of the LPG Vessel was a strategic investment that strengthened Ghana’s downstream petroleum infrastructure and enhances the national energy security.

“This Vessel represents more than capacity at sea. It represents confidence in Ghana’s growth, confidence in our regulatory framework, and confidence in the long-term sustainability of our downstream sector,” she stated.

The Managing Director said by expanding their LPG storage and distribution capability, they aim to improve supply reliability, strengthen market stability, and position Ghana to meet rising demand driven by industrial growth and clean cooking initiatives.

She reiterated that the investment in the LPG Vessel aligns closely with President Mahama’s vision of building a resilient and sustainable downstream sector, one that promoted cleaner energy solutions while ensuring accessibility and security of supply for Ghanaian households and businesses.

She acknowledged the leadership of Ghana’s Minister of Energy and the leadership of the National Petroleum Authority of Ghana in maintaining the regulatory discipline.

She reiterated that their strong oversight remains essential to sustainable sector growth.

She expressed gratitude to her Executive Directors for their strategic guidance and unwavering belief in Ghana’s potential.

“To our valued partners and hosts, we deeply appreciate your technical expertise and collaboration in delivering this project.”

Madam Alifo said this partnership reflected the strength of international cooperation in advancing critical infrastructure.

Citing a Ghanaian proverb “one hand cannot lift a heavy load”, Madam Alifo said this achievement was as a result of shared commitment between government, regulator, private sector, and international partners.

“As the Managing Director for Asharami Ghana, I am proud that this vessel strengthens operational capacity and supports Ghana’s journey toward a more secure, efficient, and forward-looking energy landscape,” she said.

She noted that on behalf of Sahara Group, they remained committed to investing responsibly, operating safely, and partnering with stakeholders to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s energy transformation.

She prayed that the vessel would stand as a lasting symbol of partnership, progress, and national development.

“Today, we commission not merely an asset at sea, but a stronger foundation for Ghana’s energy future, a decisive step forward in building a resilient, secure, and modern downstream sector,” Madam Alifo said.
