The Adentan Circuit Court has granted bail to social commentator Cyril George Carstensen Lutterodt, popularly known as Counsellor Lutterodt, after he appeared before the court on charges of offensive conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge when the case was called before the court.

The court admitted the accused to bail in the sum of GH₵50,000 with two sureties, both of whom are required to be justified.

Prosecutors charged Lutterodt with offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace, contrary to Section 207(1) of the Criminal Code, 1960 (Act 29).

Facts of the Case

Presenting the brief facts, the police told the court that the accused, a 50-year-old biomedical clinical engineer residing at SSNIT Flats, Adentan in Accra, was captured in a viral video circulating on Facebook and on the online platform Kwesi TV on Monday, March 9, 2026.

According to investigators, in the video, the accused allegedly called on some youth in Accra to take action over claims relating to the burial of Ghanaian highlife musician Daddy Lumba.

Police say the accused was heard stating in part that if the allegation that the musician had been buried in his house was true, “the Ga boys in Accra should not wait for the Police but move to the residence with pickaxes to find where the body has been buried.”

The prosecution argued that the statement had the potential to provoke public disturbance.

Police further told the court that while investigations were ongoing after the accused’s arrest, another viral video surfaced, allegedly showing some youth at the East Legon residence of Daddy Lumba in Accra, an incident investigators believe may have been influenced by the accused’s comments.
