A Ghanaian resident in Qatar has recounted a terrifying encounter after a missile exploded close to his apartment, leaving him and his neighbours in panic amid escalating Israel-Iran tensions.

In a video that has gone viral on social media on Sunday, March 1, 2026, the man, who was asleep at the time, said fear gripped his neighbourhood as sirens and emergency alerts sounded.

Doha Attack: Ghanaian nationals urged to stay indoors amid regional tensions

“One of the missiles exploded near our apartment. It was very powerful, and I could hear the destruction. This happened due to the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel, and more missiles are reportedly coming,” he narrated.

The missile incident comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, following repeated military strikes targeting Iranian facilities in the Middle East.

In retaliation, Iran has launched missiles and drones toward US military bases and allied positions in the Gulf, including Qatar.

Qatar’s air defenses intercepted most missiles, but debris fell in residential areas, creating panic among residents.

How the world has reacted to US and Israeli strikes on Iran

The US got involved after Iran launched retaliatory missiles toward American military bases in the region, prompting defensive interception efforts.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Embassy in Doha has issued an urgent security advisory directing Ghanaians living in Qatar to remain indoors until further notice.
