The family of Tawfic Abdul Mumuni, a young man left seriously injured during a political clash at Mamobi in Accra on Sunday, October 13, 2024, has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama and the government for urgent medical assistance.
Tawfic was shot during an incident that erupted between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during a weekend campaign walk. Four others were also injured in the violence.
Since the attack, Tawfic has struggled to walk and requires urgent surgery to recover fully. His mother, Samira Mohammed, made a heartfelt plea for help.
“Mr President, I am on my knees, pleading with you to come to our aid,” she said.
The victim’s uncle, Misbaw Yussif, added that while some officials have spoken about the case, Tawfic’s suffering appears to have been neglected.
“Our main concern is that our son is suffering. Since the incident, nobody has come to check on him. We are pleading with the government to come to our aid so he can get better,” he said.
Tawfic and his family said they are unable to raise the funds needed for his treatment and are appealing to well-meaning Ghanaians for support to help him undergo surgery and return to a normal life.
