AHMEDABAD: Following their win against India, South Africa are among the favourites to win the World Cup. Speaking about the mood in the team, left arm spinner Keshav Maharaj said, “Coming back after the win against India, there was a real sort of energy and buzz in our camp. We beat the best side in the competition but we’re not getting carried away. We still know that there’s a lot of cricket to be played in this tournament. So, we are dusting ourselves off and doing things that we can do better from that game.”
Maharaj, however, disagreed that South Africa would have an advantage because they have been camped in Ahmedabad. “It’s nice to not travel but from a pitch point of view, every game has been different. The four matches that we’ve played here, conditions have played very differently, so I don’t see it as too much of an advantage. It’s just making sure that we adapt quicker rather than later compared to the opposition.”
