On 25 February 2026, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Kenya, His Excellency Kang Hyungshik, paid a courtesy call to the National Defence College – Kenya (NDC-K), where he delivered a Lecture of Opportunity to faculty and course participants. NDC-K is a college of the National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K).

The Ambassador was received by the Commandant, Lieutenant General Shee Juma Mwinyikai, in a meeting that underscored the growing strategic partnership between the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Kenya.

In his lecture, Ambassador Kang highlighted the longstanding cooperation between the two nations across key sectors, including defence, education, technology, trade and development. He noted that relations between Kenya and the Republic of Korea continue to expand, guided by shared values, mutual respect and a common commitment to peace, stability and sustainable development.

The Ambassador emphasised that sustained engagement through high-level exchanges has significantly strengthened bilateral ties. Such visits have enhanced collaboration in economic development, security cooperation, infrastructure advancement and capacity-building initiatives. He observed that continued dialogue at the leadership level remains critical in unlocking new opportunities and deepening existing partnerships.

Looking ahead, the Ambassador pointed to upcoming engagements aimed at further consolidating relations between the two countries.

The visit to NDC-K reflects the importance both nations attach to strategic dialogue and knowledge exchange, particularly within institutions that shape strategic leaders and policy advisors. The engagement reaffirmed the shared aspiration of Kenya and the Republic of Korea to advance a partnership that contributes to regional stability, economic transformation and global cooperation.
