The Founding President of the Kwahu Business Advocacy Association (KBAA), Kwabena Adjare Danquah, has declared the formal inauguration of the association as the dawn of a decisive and structured era for Kwahu enterprise, one aimed at transforming individual business success into organised economic power.
The landmark event, held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, brought together key national figures, including the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, members of the diplomatic corps, captains of industry, and prominent business leaders.
Addressing the distinguished gathering, Danquah described the inauguration as “a defining chapter” in the collective journey of Kwahu entrepreneurs, emphasising that the association marks a shift from informal business excellence to structured and institutionalised economic influence.
He expressed gratitude for the trust reposed in him to lead the association at its inception, stressing that the presidency is not ceremonial but a solemn responsibility to serve with integrity, discipline, and purpose.
Institutionalising a proud legacy
For generations, Kwahu entrepreneurs have been synonymous with resilience, ambition, and commercial instinct. From markets and distribution networks to corporate boardrooms and industrial ventures, they have carved a formidable reputation within Ghana’s economic landscape.
But according to Danquah, informal excellence must now evolve into organised advocacy.
The formation of the KBAA, he explained, represents a deliberate shift from individual accomplishment to collective strategy institutionalising a legacy that has long existed but lacked a unified and structured platform.
“This is about moving beyond informal networking into a disciplined and coherent business community that actively advances the interests of every member,” he noted.
A four-point strategic agenda
Under Danquah’s leadership, the association will focus on four core pillars designed to reposition Kwahu enterprise for both national and continental relevance.
On advocacy, he said the KBAA will serve as a credible voice for business, strengthening engagement with government, regulators, financial institutions, and development partners to ensure that policy discussions reflect the realities of entrepreneurs.
On membership value, he pledged tangible benefits for members, including empowerment initiatives, mentorship platforms, succession planning for family businesses, and structured collaboration mechanisms to promote shared growth.
Touching on innovation,Danquah highlighted rapid technological transformation and opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), underscoring the need for forward-looking strategies and sustainable business practices.
Regarding business development, he explained that the association will promote joint ventures, internal synergies, and strategic partnerships to help enterprises scale responsibly and competitively.
Government pledges collaboration
In her remarks, the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, lauded the formation of the business advocacy group, describing it as a timely intervention in Ghana’s economic development agenda.
She assured members that the government would tap into the rich experience and practical insights of the association to help shape and refine policies aimed at strengthening the domestic economy.
According to the minister, structured engagement between government and organised business groups such as the KBAA is essential for building sustainable industries, creating jobs, and improving competitiveness.
Unity without division
In a clear message to stakeholders, Danquah emphasised that the KBAA is not designed to compete with existing Kwahu institutions or traditional authorities. Rather, it seeks collaboration and unity, with a focused mandate on structured business advocacy and enterprise growth.
He called on members to contribute not only capital but also expertise, ethical leadership, and integrity, noting that the strength of the association will depend on the active participation and conviction of its membership.
