A group of concerned National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch executives in Ahanta West has called on the President to sack the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly Ebenezer Kofi Aidoo, accusing him of misconduct, corruption and incompetence, according to myjoyonline.com report.

In a petition dated February 12, 2026, the executives cited Article 243(3) of the 1992 Constitution, which empowers the President to remove an MCE for proven misconduct or incapacity.

The petition details several accusations against the MCE, including abuse of authority and disregard for the General Assembly. The executives claim he once locked the Assembly Hall to prevent a meeting convened by the Presiding Member.

They further allege that the MCE colluded in illegal mining activities, releasing confiscated excavators without accountability, and allegedly using security personnel to extort money from illegal miners. Supporting evidence, including videos and mobile money records, has reportedly been submitted.

Additional claims include conflicts of interest in awarding contracts such as the Busua-Dixcove Bridge project and a School Feeding Programme contract, as well as alleged interference in local chieftaincy matters that fueled unrest in parts of the municipality.

The group also accuses the MCE of financial mismanagement, noting that district road machinery was left idle while external equipment was hired at additional cost.

The petitioners argue that the MCE’s continued tenure threatens local governance, party cohesion, and the municipality’s development. They are therefore urging the President to take swift action to restore effective leadership.

“The conduct of the Municipal Chief Executive is negatively affecting governance and progress in Ahanta West. We call on the President to intervene immediately,” the petition said.
