The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Mariya Mahmoud, has declared that health remains central to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, citing sweeping reforms aimed at revitalising the nation’s healthcare system.
Mahmoud made the assertion at the inaugural National Health Convention and Roundtable 1.0 organised by the APC Medical Council at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja.
According to her, the Federal Government is implementing far-reaching reforms to strengthen primary healthcare, expand health insurance coverage, improve health financing and enhance workforce welfare.
“President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope vision places health at the core of national development. This is evident in the ongoing reforms to revitalise primary healthcare and promote universal access,” she said.
The minister commended the leadership and members of the APC Medical Council for convening the roundtable, describing the initiative as consistent with the party’s people-centred governance agenda and commitment to sustainable development.
She urged participants to focus discussions on practical and implementable strategies to improve primary healthcare delivery, maternal and child health outcomes, and tackle persistent challenges in the sector.
Mahmoud stressed the importance of accelerating progress toward Universal Health Coverage, adding that the administration remained committed to collaborative efforts that would enhance access, quality and equity in healthcare delivery.
She further disclosed that with the President’s backing, significant resources were being invested to strengthen the FCT healthcare system across the city centre and satellite towns.
The minister called on stakeholders to translate deliberations from the roundtable into measurable actions capable of delivering tangible benefits to communities.
