The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, has announced a dress code policy for students, declaring that compliance will be mandatory.
Addressing students at a public gathering, Professor Mawutor stated that from Monday to Thursday February 26, 2026, all students must appear in formal attire, with particular emphasis on professional dressing at the beginning of the week.
“From Monday to Thursday, formal. As for Monday, the gentlemen, you have no option than to be in your professional wear,” he said.

He specified that male students are required to wear jackets and ties and must ensure their shirts are properly tucked in.
In a stern remark that drew attention, the Vice-Chancellor added, “Did you hear that? … Whether you heard it or not, you comply. You are signed for it.”
He further clarified that while Monday through Thursday will require formal dressing, students may dress more casually on Fridays.
According to him, students may wear faculty-branded apparel or “something simple” on Fridays.
However, he cautioned against indecent dressing, particularly warning against clothing that exposes private body parts. He stressed the need for decency on campus, especially among female students.
“You can wear something simple. However, do not expose your vital, you know, body part, especially the women.”
