Fast-rising Kenya U20 midfielder completes move to Swedish side

“ESK has signed Andres Odhiambo Omondi (born 2007) from Kariobangi Sharks in Kenya. Thanks to agent 1914, the transfer is now complete,” the club said.

“Omondi, who is 178 cm tall, is an offensive-oriented midfielder with a strong sense of play. Interestingly, he developed at the same club as Stanley Wilson, who played in ESK on loan from AIK last year.

Omondi expressed his excitement after completing the switch to Sweden, describing the move as a major step in his young career.

“It feels fantastic to play in ESK. I look forward to contributing to the team and developing as a player,” he said.

The midfielder is regarded as one of Kenya’s emerging talents. He was part of the national team that featured at the recent Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations and also earned a call-up to the provisional Harambee Stars squad named by head coach Benni McCarthy for the World Cup qualifiers against The Gambia and Gabon, although he did not make the final squad.

Having featured for Kariobangi Sharks this season, Omondi now joins an Enköpings SK side currently in pre-season preparations.

The Swedish club is set to open its campaign against Stocksund in the Ettan relegation/promotion playoff.

Last season, fellow Kenyans Stanley Wilson Omondi and Irad Mshindi also turned out for Enköpings SK, showing the club’s growing Kenyan connection as Odhiambo looks to establish himself in European football.
