Haruna Iddrisu, Sukparu stable after accident

Parliament has assured the public that there is no cause for alarm following the accident involving the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, and the Deputy Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Mohammed Adams Sukparu.

In a statement dated Friday, February 13, Parliament said both ministers are in stable condition and receiving the necessary medical care. It expressed sincere sympathy over the incident and acknowledged the shock the news may have caused their families, constituents and the general public.

Parliament also prayed for their swift recovery and disclosed that the leadership of the House, led by the Speaker of Parliament, had visited the two ministers.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, February 12, on the Bolgatanga–Tumu road. The ministers and their convoys were travelling to the Upper West Region to attend the 40th anniversary celebrations of Tumu College of Education and Jahan College of Education.

All members of the convoy are receiving medical attention, with officials confirming that everyone involved is in stable condition.

The Office of the Education Minister thanked emergency responders, health workers, and members of the public for their swift assistance and support, and said further updates will be provided as necessary.
