FORMER Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development in Kwara State, Aisha Ahman-Pategi, has urged the Federal and state governments to intensify efforts towards restoring lasting peace and ensuring the safety of communities across the troubled Kwara North Senatorial District and beyond.

Condemning the recent banditry attacks on Woro community in Kaiama local Council, Ahman-Pategi urged groups and peace-loving individuals to tolerate one another. She described the Woro attack and its effects on the victims, their families, the state and the country, as unfortunate, saying the killings underscore “the urgent need for a renewed commitment to peace, security, and the protection of human life.”

She described the dastardly incident that killed over 160 innocent lives in the two communities, “deeply devastating and truly heartbreaking.” She prayed for the victims and condoled with families that lost their loved ones.

She urged the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Muazu Omar, the entire people of Kaiama emirate, and Kwara State government to take heart as they mourn the victims.

“I stand in solidarity with the people of Kaiama during this difficult time and pray for strength, healing, and comfort for all those affected.

“I also urge the government at all levels, as well as the international community and humanitarian NGOs, to urgently provide relief materials and support to the affected communities,” Ahman-Pategi added.
