Legal practitioner and activist, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has praised the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, for what he described as decisive and principled leadership in addressing allegations of vote buying within the party.

In a Facebook post on Monday, February 9, 2026, Barker-Vormawor lauded Kwetey’s handling of the matter, describing it as an example of ‘true grit’ and the kind of leadership expected from a party’s chief administrator.

“That is what leadership from a General Secretary should look like,” he stated, applauding the NDC scribe for taking a firm position on the issue rather than shielding alleged offenders.

Barker-Vormawor further challenged the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to demonstrate similar resolve by sanctioning individuals who allegedly engaged in vote buying during its most recent presidential flagbearer elections.

“I challenge the NPP to also disqualify those who bought votes in their last presidential flagbearer elections,” he said.

His comments come amid heightened public scrutiny of internal party democracy and the enforcement of rules against vote buying, an issue that has long undermined confidence in Ghana’s electoral processes.
