The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) recorded significant gains on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, with the benchmark GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) rising 178.14 points to close at 9,349.89, marking a robust 1.94 percent single-day advance in the exchange’s 7,150th trading session.

The GSE Financial Stocks Index (GSE-FSI) declined marginally by 23.19 points to settle at 5,027.13, reversing from Monday’s closing level of 5,050.32 points. Tuesday’s session recorded trading volume of 3,601,346 shares valued at 9.24 million Ghana cedis, representing a substantial decline from Monday’s 10,287,273 shares worth 46.02 million cedis traded. Market capitalization climbed to 182.74 billion cedis at the close of trading, up from 181.03 billion cedis recorded in the previous session.

The strong Tuesday performance extends the exchange’s year to date gains to 6.61 percent for the composite index since January 1, 2026, while the financial stocks index has advanced 8.18 percent over the same period. These gains build on the exchange’s exceptional 2025 performance when it emerged as Africa’s best performing equity market with a remarkable 79.43 percent annual return.

The GSE-CI has gained over 579 points since the exchange reopened for 2026 trading, reflecting sustained capital inflows amid improving macroeconomic stability and continued investor confidence in Ghana’s economic trajectory. Analysts attribute the bullish outlook to sustained investment in artificial intelligence, continued economic expansion, and favorable macroeconomic conditions.

Foreign portfolio investment flows significantly influence GSE performance in 2026, with Ghana’s frontier market classification attracting specialized emerging market funds seeking higher returns despite elevated risks. Market analysts emphasize that sustaining investor confidence requires delivering on macroeconomic stability promises while avoiding policy missteps that could trigger sentiment shifts.
