The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, is leading Ghana’s delegation to the 2026 Mining Indaba Conference in Cape Town, South Africa.

The annual Mining Indaba is the world’s largest mining investment conference dedicated to Africa, bringing together key actors across the mining value chain to promote investment, partnerships and policy dialogue within the sector.

The conference serves as a platform for mining companies, investors, governments and service providers to engage on emerging industry trends, including sustainability, regulation and technology. The official opening ceremony for this year’s edition is scheduled for Monday, February 9, marking the start of a series of high-level policy discussions and engagements.

Mining Indaba 2026 is expected to attract more than 10,500 participants, including government officials, industry leaders, regulators and other stakeholders, to deliberate on critical challenges and opportunities within the mining sector.

In a statement issued by the Media Relations Officer at the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Paa Kwesi Schandorf, it was disclosed that the Minister arrived in South Africa on Sunday, February 8, and would lead Ghana’s delegation to conduct official business at the conference.

The statement said that during the four-day event, Mr Buah was expected to participate in several high-level dialogues and strategic engagements, while also contributing to broader discussions on key issues confronting the global and African mining industries.

“Among his engagements, the sector minister will also headline the highly anticipated Ghana Day Event, scheduled for Wednesday, 11th February, 2026,” the statement said.

It added that the Ghana Day Event, organised in recognition of Ghana’s position as Africa’s leading gold producer, would serve as a platform to showcase the country’s investment opportunities and deepen investor interest in its extractive sector.

According to the statement, Ghana’s participation in this year’s Mining Indaba aligns with the vision of President John Dramani Mahama to advance the mining sector through enhanced global partnerships and targeted strategic investment initiatives.
