Black Stars midfielder, Daniel Kofi Kyereh has resumed full-scale training with German side Freiburg after nearly three years of battling with an ACL injury.

Since suffering a serious Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury in 2023, the midfielder has struggled to regain full fitness as the injury repeatedly recurred.

After undergoing surgery and completing rehabilitation in 2024, his recovery was further delayed by setbacks that kept him sidelined for extended periods.

Through consistent recovery and training, Kyereh has now regained full fitness and trained with the team throughout their session on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. He is expected to rejoin the squad.

Freiburg are preparing for their UEFA Europa League clash against Maccabi Tel Aviv in Germany on Thursday, January 22, 2026, and it remains to be seen whether the playmaker will be given some minutes.

Due to his injury setbacks, the Ghanaian midfielder has been limited to just 18 appearances, during which he scored three goals and provided one assist.

Prior to his move, Kyereh enjoyed the most productive spell of his career at St. Pauli, where he emerged as a standout performer, registering an impressive 22 goals and 21 assists in 67 matches.

His return to fitness will be a major boost for the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
