The outgoing Ambassador of the Republic of China to Ghana, His Excellency Tong Defa, has paid a farewell courtesy call on the Minister for the Interior, Mr Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, as he concludes his diplomatic mission in the country.

The meeting, held on Tuesday in Accra, underscored the strong and enduring bilateral relations between Ghana and China.

Both parties reflected on Ambassador Tong’s tenure and his role in strengthening cooperation across key sectors, including security, economic relations, infrastructure development, and cultural exchange.

Mr Muntaka commended Ambassador Tong for his dedicated service and significant contributions toward deepening Ghana–China friendship.

He reaffirmed the long-standing, cordial ties between the two nations and wished the outgoing envoy success in his future endeavours.

Ambassador Tong expressed profound gratitude to the Government and people of Ghana for the warmth, hospitality, and support extended to him and his team throughout his assignment.

He noted that Ghana remains one of China’s key partners in Africa, adding that bilateral trade continues to grow steadily.

The Ambassador also highlighted that relations between the two countries have reached new heights in recent years, particularly following high-level engagements such as President John Dramani Mahama’s state visit to China in 2025.
