Airbus Helicopters has won a contract from the Ghanaian Ministry of Defence for a mixed fleet consisting of two H175M helicopters, one ACH175, and one ACH160.
According to Avitrader, under the agreement, the H175M helicopters will be used for multi-mission operations, including transport, search and rescue, emergency medical services, and disaster relief. The ACH175 and ACH160, meanwhile, will be dedicated to transport roles.
Airbus Helicopters said the deal signals its return to the Ghanaian market, with a renewed focus on long-term customer support and partnership in the country.
The company added that the choice of the H175M highlights the aircraft’s adaptability across defence and security missions, while the acquisition of the ACH160 and ACH175 positions Ghana as one of the leading customers in West Africa for Airbus’s high-end corporate helicopter portfolio.
The H175, which entered service in 2014, belongs to Airbus’s super-medium helicopter category. It offers long-range capability and high payload capacity, combined with smooth handling characteristics, making it suitable for a wide range of onshore and offshore missions.
These include disaster relief, search and rescue, public service, and military operations, as well as crew transport and private and business aviation.
