Stop dismissing people, reset your party

The Member of Parliament for Lambussie, Prof. Titus Beyuo, has stressed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) requires time to reset and reform, warning against relying on dismissals and warnings as a measure of accountability.

His remark comes after the NPP announced that it has begun processes to expel Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng following comments he made in an interview on Channel One TV in which he described the party as “fake” and distanced himself from its membership.

Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, a former Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, in the interview said: “The present NPP is not NPP. It is fake. From what I see now, this is not the NPP I used to know,” he said.

Speaking on The Big Issue on Channel One TV on Saturday, January 17, 2026, Prof. Beyuo emphasised the importance of measured party management rather than reactionary disciplinary actions.

“We as a party need enough time to reset this country. So, they also need more time to reset their party. And this is not done by handing over dismissal letters here and there and warning others while others are also being left to go free,” he said.

He further noted that the fortunes of his party in the 2028 elections are determined by adherence to promises and effective governance, rather than the actions of the opposition NPP.

“We for us, our fortunes in 2028 are not dependent on the NPP. Whether or not they sack Frimpong-Boateng or Akufo-Addo, it doesn’t determine our fortune. our fortune is rather determined by how much we keep to our promise,” he added.
