Accra, Jan 11, GNA – The Methodist Church Ghana has officially inducted its new cohort of Connexional Guild Officers, and a strategic digital shift to capture the interest of the “Gen Z” generation through digital evangelism.
The induction service, held on Sunday at the Bethel Society in New Aplaku, Accra, was on theme: “Walking in the Word: Equipped for Every Good Work” (2 Timothy 3:1-17).”
The ceremony was presided over by high-ranking clergy, including the Presiding Bishop, Most Rev. Prof. Johnson Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, and the Administrative Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. William A. Mpere-Gyekye.
Speaking shortly after his induction, Mr Maxwell Amoah, the newly minted Connexional Guild Chairman outlined a robust five-fold vision aimed at revitalizing the intergenerational organization.
The Chairman emphasised that while the Guild’s core mandate remained the mobilisation of both youth and adults for church work, his administration would prioritize leadership training and infrastructure development.
Mr Maxwell Amoah revealed that a cornerstone of his chairmanship would be the aggressive use of social media and online platforms.
“ This move is designed to bridge the gap between the church and younger congregants. Recognizing that the youth are increasingly found in digital spaces, the Guild intends to modernize its communication to ensure the Methodist message remains relevant and accessible to the younger generation,” he said.
He noted that beyond spiritual growth, the new leadership is eyeing the socio-economic well-being of its members.
Mr Amoah said the creation of job opportunities and revenue streams for traders within the Guild are afloat to ensure that they contribute meaningfully to both church and country.
The Chairman also noted that the nine newly inducted officers, ranging from the Chairman to co-opted members would embark on a nationwide fellowship tour.
According to him, it will involve visiting various dioceses, from the local societies to the furthest reaches of the Connexion, to implement evangelism programmes that serve the broader community.
The newly inducted leadership team is made up of Maxwell Amoah as Chairman, Noah Bright Ayisi as Vice Chairman, Benjamin Fiifi Graham as Secretary, and Dr. Francis Kofi Arko as Treasurer.
They are supported by the Connexional Guild Chaplain, Very Rev. Christopher Atta-Cudjoe.
Most Rev. Prof. Johnson Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, urged the inductees to charter a new course of leadership that will duly serve the Church.
The ceremony also honoured outgoing officers, including the past Chairman, Madam Patience Ameyaa Sam, for their dedicated service to the Lay Ministry Directorate.
