The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission has announced the approved fees for the University of Ghana for the 2025/2026 academic year, a move aimed at addressing concerns and providing clarity on the university’s fee structure.
In a statement issued on Monday, January 12, and signed by the Director General, Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, GTEC said the Academic Facility User Fee will remain unchanged from the 2024/2025 academic year, meaning students will not face any increase under that component.
The Commission outlined other approved charges, including Student Representative Council dues of GH₵50, an SRC Development Levy of GH₵150, a Graduate Students Development Levy of GH₵250, and a Telecel Broadband Levy of GH₵122, which applies to undergraduate students, including freshers.
The statement also introduced a 75th Anniversary Levy of GH₵100. GTEC clarified that this levy will apply only to the 2025/2026 academic year and will not continue beyond that period.
GTEC further indicated that students should be adequately informed about their rights, including the possibility of opting out of certain levies where such options apply. The Commission described the publication of the approved fees as part of efforts to promote transparency and ensure compliance within the university.
“This announcement seeks to resolve issues surrounding the 2025/2026 fee schedule for the University of Ghana. We are counting on the usual cooperation of all stakeholders to implement it effectively,” the statement said.
