Ken Agyapong is Christian but embraces all faiths – Campaign Team

The campaign team of New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has stressed that while the aspirant is a committed Christian, he remains inclusive and respectful of all faiths in Ghana.

Speaking after the Ken’s National Praise 2026 event held on Friday, January 2, the spokesperson for the Ken Agyapong Campaign Team, Kwasi Kwarteng, told the Channel One Newsroom on Saturday, January 3, that the thanksgiving service, though rooted in Christian belief, was deliberately open to people of other religious backgrounds.

According to him, Mr Agyapong openly professes his Christian faith but does not exclude anyone on the basis of religion.

Mr Kwarteng explained that the event brought together representatives from diverse faiths and traditions, including members of the Muslim community, traditional leaders and Buddhist representatives.

“The MC announced that there were Buddhist representatives present. We also extended invitations to traditional leadership, and representatives of the Ga Mantse were there, as well as people from the Muslim community,” Kwarteng said. “We were professing our faith, but at the same time, we were embracing all other faiths.”

The campaign team also described the turnout as overwhelming, noting that attendance exceeded expectations. According to the spokesperson, the organisers extended an open invitation to the public and committed the programme to God, but the response surpassed what had been anticipated.

“Our expectations were more than met. The number of calls and the level of interest surprised us. There was even an overflow of people outside the auditorium,” Kwarteng said.

The Ken’s National Praise 2026 event had earlier been described by Mr Agyapong as a thanksgiving service rather than a political gathering. He used the occasion to call for peace, unity and prayer ahead of the NPP’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.

Mr Agyapong urged party members and Ghanaians to avoid violence, bitterness and division before, during and after the primaries, stressing that leadership should be anchored in unity and guided by God. He added that regardless of the outcome, national cohesion and party unity must remain a top priority.
