In an impassioned plea towards promoting peace and unity in Ghana ahead of the 2024 general elections, the President of the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs, Nana Ansah Adu Baah, has called upon all Ghanaians to rally behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the serving Vice President of the Republic and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

During a meeting with the Vice President and his campaign team in the Ahafo Region as part of the “Bold Solutions Campaign Tour,” Nana Ansah Adu Baah emphasized Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to national development and his embodiment of peace.
The Chief stated that Dr. Bawumia was a symbol of tranquillity and would champion the cause of a peaceful nation if elected as president.

Expressing confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy, Nana Ansah Adu Baah declared, “The people of the Ahafo Region have already chosen to vote for Dr. Bawumia. We stand firmly in favor of peace and unity, and we wish to see a president who embodies these virtues.”

He urged voters to support Dr. Bawumia wholeheartedly on election day, emphasizing the importance of a peaceful electoral process.

In response to the Chief’s endorsement, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia highlighted the need for greater involvement of chiefs in the governance of Ghana, advocating for a review of the Chieftaincy Act.

Dr. Bawumia proposed amending the Act to grant chiefs more authority in the country’s governance structure, affirming their crucial role in local administration and decision-making.

Furthermore, Dr. Bawumia outlined plans to provide allowances to chiefs to support their important duties, underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of traditional leaders.

He assured the Chiefs that his administration, if elected, would introduce policies to ensure that chiefs receive adequate allowances to enable them to fulfill their responsibilities effectively.

As the countdown to the 2024 elections continues, the endorsements and policy proposals put forth by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia are poised to shape the electoral landscape and underscore the significance of inclusive governance and support for traditional authorities in Ghana.
